I am excited to share that the Asian American Research Center at Stanford (AARCS) has awarded me a 2026-27 Seed Grant to support the early research and development of my second book project, tentatively titled Mixed Race Mourning: Double Loss and the Search for Cultural Belonging in Multiracial Asian and Black American Literature. Each year the AARCS awards seed grants to members of the Stanford community who are conducting interdisciplinary research in Asian American studies. The goal of these grants is to fund research that contributes to the field of Asian American studies and that supports Asian American lives and communities. I was one of 18 recipients of the 2026-27 award, alongside 6 other faculty members, 10 graduate students, and 1 undergraduate student. Collectively, my cohort represents the most interdisciplinary group in the history of the grant program, with projects drawing from a variety of STEM, humanities, and social sciences fields and covering topics ranging from science fiction to caste to queer art to gender-based violence.
